The Mission Bay Marlin Club (MBMC) was formed in August 1972 by a group of entrepreneurs who felt that Mission Bay had great potential for sports minded anglers. The core benefit of MBMC membership is sharing fishing knowledge and information. Membership provides you with the opportunity to meet and talk to other Club members who fish the local waters on a regular basis. The MBMC has traditionally been the Club of choice for many of the best anglers in southern California.
The principal purpose of the MBMC is the promotion of fishing among its members; the encouragement of sportsmanship and fellowship; and assistance in the conservation of fish in local waters. The Club also takes pride in its annual fundraising effort, our Charity Heart Marlin Tournament, which we have sponsored for over 30 years. This is our largest function of the year, benefiting the American Heart Association and MBMC.
We are fortunate to have our own waterfront clubhouse located at 2950 Ingraham Street, overlooking Mission Bay and next to Dana Landing. This is an informal meeting place for members and also functions as an IGFA certified weigh station.
MBMC is a year-round fishing club. The club has a strong salt water angling association with roots firmly entrenched in the pursuit of local game fish. Membership benefits include our “Fish of the Month” competition, tournaments, social functions and a monthly newsletter. We also feature many instructional seminars throughout the year.
Our anglers and skippers are among the best and welcome you to share their passion for fishing.
As a member, you are entitled to discounts available at local merchants such as Dana Bait and Tackle, Dana Landing Fuel Dock, Fisherman’s Landing, Hook, Line and Sinker, and SQC. We have some great events taking place every year. First off, we begin with our annual Awards Banquet. This is a sit down dinner, followed by the presentation of the yearly awards recognizing our fellow members for their achievements. We consider this our “Oscar Night”. The Club sponsors numerous tournaments ranging from rockfish to marlin which are held between March and November. Awards are given for each tournament along with an Angler of the -Year award based on these tournaments. Also, a “draw tournament” is held to give anglers a chance to fish on other member boats.
You can be part of this great Club for only $100 per year, plus an additional $30 per year for each additional family member.
