Hi everyone, it’s that time of the month again when you hear from me on what’s been going on with the Club. The big goings on this past month has been preparing for the Heart Tournament! I am very pleased to say that we will be having a fabulous raffle thanks to the many donations we have received. Many folks have been very generous this year with over $16,000 in prizes so far! On the downside as of this writing I have only received entries from 5 boats. Looks like a lot of people are going to miss out on the fabulous early bird prize of the marlin casting rod and reel and there will be lots of raffle prizes for us attending the banquet. Better hurry and get you entry in!
Last month’s seminar was all about marlin fishing. They found this guy wandering the docks and asked him if he would do the seminar. I said okay. I went over all the basics both how Ann and I fish as well as fishing with more crew members. It must have been a success and interesting presentation since we had to ask for additional time at the deli. I have never been known to yap that much, LOL. As always, the food and venue were great and thanks to Ken Yasuda for donating 4 beautiful marlin lures for the raffle!
August was the annual Tuna Tournament. The Tuna were close and biting but we only had three boats and ten anglers competing. Dan Carlin had a great Tournament putting three ladies (two quests) on the tuna. Guest Crystal Buck caught the biggest tuna at 18.2 lb. yellowfin to win the Women’s division and the rollover money from the Yellowtail Tourney. The Men’s Winner was Steve Milligan aboard the High Count with a 13 lb. tuna. Top Boat was Dive Inn with a 46.6 lb. total followed by the High Count with a 24.2lb. total. Congrats to the winners.
August Fish of the Month winner was Jose Sanchez with a 15.8 lb. Bluefin, caught aboard Karabik. Congrats to Jose! Both the tuna tournament and FOM winners will be presented their awards at the Heart Tournament Captain’s Meeting.
I would like to welcome a couple new members to the Club that joined in August, Michael Beavers and Conrad Baumgartner. It is great to see our membership grow throughout the year! We are now well over the century mark. I hope Michael and Conrad will take full advantage of all the Club has to offer. Hope to see them at our events and on the water.
So, until you hear from me next month, good fishing, tight Lines and following Seas, Dan Muslin.
