About

The Mission Bay Marlin Club (MBMC) is dedicated to promoting the joys of fishing, encouraging sportsmanship and fellowship among its members, and conserving our local fishery. The MBMC has traditionally been the club of choice for many of the best anglers in Southern California. A core benefit of membership is the opportunity to meet and share fishing knowledge and information with some of the very best anglers who fish the local waters on a regular basis.

Established in 1972, MBMC is one of the oldest existing saltwater fishing clubs in the San Diego region. We are a year-round fishing club rooted in the pursuit of local game fish. The club hosts a range of fishing tournaments each year. Whether it be bay, bottom, in-shore or off-shore fishing; there is some type of fishing fun for everyone. Since 1975, MBMC has proudly hosted an annual MBMC Marlin Tournament.

There has long been a “Fish of the Month” competition with a fishing reel as the prize. The Annual Awards Banquet recognizes individual tournament winners and cumulative tournament points winners in the Top Male, Female, and Junior Angler categories, as well as Top Boat. Esteemed club awards for achievements in albacore, tuna and marlin fishing are also honored.

Mission Bay Marlin Club maintains a waterfront clubhouse located at 2950 Ingraham Avenue overlooking Mission Bay and next to Dana Landing. This is an informal meeting place for members which also functions as an IGFA certified weigh station in conjunction with a dockside hoist maintained at Dana Landing Fuel Dock.

Social events are enjoyed by all members: men, women and juniors alike. Several social events each year are family oriented. Networking with others who love to fish is part of the fun of MBMC. Captain’s meetings and fishing seminars provide opportunities to share fishing know-how with club members. MBMC anglers and skippers are among the best in the area, and welcome those that share their passion for fishing.
